As the 20 new millionaires from last week’s Powerball^® drawing continue to claim their prizes, other Hoosier Lottery Powerball players are getting in on the fun. Hoosier Lottery Powerball tickets should be checked carefully as one entry matched four out of five numbers and the Powerball in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing.

The $150,000 winning Powerball with Power Play^® ticket was purchased at Martin’s #11 located at 926 Erskine Plaza in South Bend. 

The winning Powerball numbers for Wednesday, May 6, are: 18-27-51-65-68 with the Powerball of 5 and Power Play of 3X.

$2 Million Powerball prize claimed

At Hoosier Lottery headquarters this week, Benito Colunga Guerrero claimed a $2 million Powerball prize stemming from the April 29 drawing. Originally from Texas, Benito is contractor who specializes in building hotels. With a major client and several projects ongoing in Indiana, Benito has been living in the Hoosier state for the past couple years, although he regularly travels back to Texas to see his six kids. 

Whenever he is headed back to Texas, Benito stops at the Circle K at 106th St. and College Ave. in Indianapolis. After getting gas, he was walking out of the store when he remembered that there was a Powerball drawing that night. He turned around and headed back inside to purchase a few tickets, choosing his numbers based on his children’s birthdays.

When Benito checked his tickets the day after the drawing, he was shocked to see he matched all five white balls and won $2 million!

Benito recently bought a large plot of land in Texas and began building his dream home. With the construction costs already budgeted for, Benito’s first priority is purchasing an RV. After living out of hotel rooms the past two years, it will give him a chance to have his own living space when he’s in Indiana. His second priority will be a couple of all-terrain vehicles to help him traverse the acreage he owns in Texas. After that, he’ll splurge on some fun items for his kids and put the rest of his winnings in savings.  

Since its first drawing in 1992, Powerball has inspired the country with a chance to become a millionaire, while raising $38 billion for good causes supported by lotteries. Indiana had the very first Powerball jackpot winner in 1992 and leads the nation in Powerball jackpot wins with 40.

The Powerball jackpot for Saturday, May 9, is an estimated $47 million.
