Vara Bonnell from Carmel won a $50,000 prize on Powerball

When she bought her winning ticket, she was at a gas station with her husband, and while he was pumping gas, she decided to run inside and grab a few things. She decided to buy a Powerball ticket because she knew her husband likes to play. Vara’s husband is from Las Vegas, so playing the Hoosier Lottery brings a little bit of his hometown to their current home in Carmel.  Later that week Vara’s husband remembered that they still needed to check the Powerball ticket. He took the ticket with him on his walk with their dog and scanned it with the Hoosier Lottery app. The app notified him that they had a $50,000 winning ticket, he immediately called his wife who was at home. The first people Vara and her husband called were her husband’s parents, who could not believe they had won. They were excited and happy for Vara and her husband. Vara said her husband already has a spreadsheet to plan what to do with the prize money. They plan to pay off some debt, invest, and have a little extra spending money as well. Congratulations Vara!
