Stanley Rummell and Rita Stasik are brother and sister. The siblings enjoy playing the Hoosier Lottery and often buy tickets for one another, agreeing to split the winnings if they win.

When the Powerball® jackpot surged to more than $1 billion, Stanley bought a few tickets to try to win the big jackpot. After accumulating a small stack of unchecked tickets, Stanley brought them to his sister’s house to go through them.

Rita pulled the first ticket off the pile and scanned it with the Hoosier Lottery app. After receiving a message that the prize amount was too large to cash at a retailer, the siblings excitedly started researching how much they had won, which turned out to be $50,000!

Rita plans to save her half of the prize money. Stanley has been eyeing a new smartphone or a new computer, which he may purchase with his half of the prize money.
