A Rush County man is celebrating after winning a CA$H 5 jackpot. 

He likes to play CA$H 5 each week because it’s easy and only costs $1 and typically purchases his tickets on his way to work.

The day after a drawing, he was shopping at Walmart and stopped at the Hoosier Lottery’s self-service machine to scan his ticket. When he received a message that his prize was too large to cash at a retailer, he wasn’t sure what that meant, so he got online and Googled the winning numbers. Seeing that he hadn’t matched many numbers, he figured he must have won $1,000.

Later that day, he stopped to get gas and decided to ask the clerk to scan his ticket. After scanning it, the clerk then handed the man a slip showing the winning numbers. 

“Wait, these aren’t the winning numbers I looked up,” the man thought. He got online again, but this time he checked the Hoosier Lottery’s website and was delighted to see he had accidentally looked up the previous day’s winning numbers. The numbers the clerk had printed out for him just so happened to match every number on his ticket. He couldn’t believe it—he had just won the $105,000 CA$H 5 jackpot!

He plans to use his winnings to pay a couple bills and will put the rest in savings.
