Carolyn Barton is retired from IU Health and enjoys being able to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She also likes to play Hoosier Lottery games for fun.

Carolyn stopped at her local Murphy’s one morning to purchase a few lottery tickets and noticed the $5 Wild Multiplier because of its eye-catching design. She bought one $5 Wild Multiplier along with a couple other games.

Later that evening, just as Carolyn was about to start cleaning her carpets, her brother called. As they chatted, Carolyn pulled out the Scratch-offs she had purchased that morning and began scratching them. When she scratched the $5 Wild Multiplier, she was shocked to see she won the game’s top prize of $100,000!

“That can’t be right!” she blurted out.

“What wrong?” her brother asked.

“I think this one’s a winner,” Carolyn exclaimed. “It says $100,000! Oh my gosh, my heart is fluttering!”

Wanting to be sure she really had won, Carolyn quickly hung up with her brother, left her carpet cleaning supplies where they were and headed back to Murphy’s to have the clerk scan her ticket. As soon as she had confirmation of her win, Carolyn drove home and called her brother back to share the good news.

Much later that night, Carolyn did finally clean her carpets, but not until she had secured her ticket in her safe.

Carolyn plans to use her winnings to pay bills and help her family.
