Thomas Meeks of Wheatfield isn’t sitting still in retirement. He always has something to do, whether it’s helping neighbors with their vehicles or working around the house or in the garden. 

To add some play to his day, Thomas plays the Hoosier Lottery. Typically, he plays Powerball®, but on occasion he’ll pick up a Scratch-off just for fun. A recent Scratch-off he has enjoyed playing is $5 $100,000 Gold Bar. 

Thomas purchased his Powerball tickets and a $5 $100,000 Gold Bar ticket and went home. Once home, he scratched his ticket and was shocked when he realized he won the $100,000 top prize. 

Thomas waited for his wife to get home later that day to tell her the good news. She was just as surprised as Thomas was. The couple then called their two adult sons and asked them to come to dinner, which was an unusual mid-week ask. They assured them that they had good news to share. 

“I didn’t know what it was,” said one of their sons. After learning about the win, the sons were very happy for their parents.

Thomas and his wife plan to buy a new car with the prize money. The rest will be put toward projects around the house.
