Nick Newton, a father of 13-year-old twin boys, started playing the Hoosier Lottery a few months ago at the suggestion of his wife. “I didn’t know that he really had started playing until we won!” his wife said. Nick explained, “If I have a few extra bucks, I’ll buy a ticket.”

On the day Nick won a $2,000,000 top prize on the Mega Bucks Scratch-off, he had stopped in Speedway for a cola during his lunch break. Nick scratched his ticket in the store, and when realized he had won $2,000,000, he quietly slipped the ticket into his pocket and drove home to tell his wife.

“I thought he was lying” said his wife when Nick told her the news. Not until Nick called the Hoosier Lottery office to make an appointment to claim his prize did the win seem real.

Though the family of four can consider themselves millionaires, they don’t plan on changing much of how they live their lives. “We still have to go to work each day and our boys have to do their chores to earn allowance money.” Nick plans to save the prize money for retirement, college savings and investments. The family is considering taking a trip to Disney World to celebrate the win.
