A Valparaiso man was in utter disbelief when he won $50,000 playing Mega Millions®. The day before he and his wife were going to leave on vacation, he stopped to get gas and decided to purchase one ticket. He put the ticket in the center console of his car and didn’t think about it until the couple returned home.

Remembering the ticket in the console, the man scanned it using the Hoosier Lottery’s app and was surprised to see a message stating he would need to contact the Hoosier Lottery to claim his prize. Not sure what prize he may have won, the man took the ticket back to the retailer to find out. As he was waiting in line, he pulled out his phone and checked the winning numbers. He saw that he matched four white balls and the Mega Ball to win $50,000.

“I couldn’t believe it!” he said about that moment.

He excitedly shared the news with his wife, who said, “Wow! Where are we going on vacation next?”

The couple is currently deciding where their next vacation spot will be.
