Lifelong Hoosier wins $217,500 CA$H 5 jackpot

Margaret Dixon, 62, is a life-long Hoosier—originally from Terre Haute—and has been married for 31 years. Now a Jasper resident, she works for a cabinet manufacturer company called Masterbrand. In October, the avid Hoosier Lottery player received some good news she always hoped would come her way. 

On the night of October 17, after buying her CA$H 5 tickets at the local Northside Citgo, she realized all her numbers matched and she won the jackpot of $217,500. 

She said, “I was home by myself, and I was like ‘What?!’ I guess I screamed.” She then called her husband, who was on the road as a truck driver, and left an eager voicemail. When she was finally able to speak to her husband, she exclaimed, “I think I won the jackpot!” He then responded, “You’re lying. You always laugh when you lie.” She then replied, “I’m laughing because I won!” She has also shared the news with a few coworkers.

Margaret typically plays Hoosier Lotto^® once a week, and only plays CA$H 5 when the jackpot is over $100,000. Prior to her recent jackpot win, she won amounts as high as $1,000. 

Margaret has a few plans in mind with her prize money, including redoing her living room, paying off some bills so she can start retirement on a clean slate, and possibly finally joining her husband on the road. 

They are also having friends over to thank them for being incredible people in their lives’ and to celebrate.
