James Battles of New Albany likes to play Hoosier Lottery Draw games. Each week he purchases a Powerball® and a Mega Millions® ticket at one of the two Circle K gas stations he frequents.

After one Mega Millions drawing, James stopped at one of the Circle Ks to scan his ticket. The clerk scanned it for him and then handed James a printout that said he won more than the retailer could pay and he would need to contact the Hoosier Lottery to claim his prize.

James mistakenly thought he won $200 after checking his numbers and drove to Indianapolis to claim his prize. He handed his ticket to the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment employee and was completely shocked when they informed him that he had not won $200. He won $10,000!

“It’s slowly starting to sink in,” said James about the unexpected prize. “But the whole inside of my body is vibrating! I just can’t believe it.”

James plans to use his winnings to pay bills and will save the rest.
