From his start as a volunteer in 1991 to his rise through the ranks of the department, Paul kindled just as many connections as fires he fought--both amongst his crew and the locals they dutifully served.
"I wanted to come to work. I was there for the community," Paul reflects, highlighting his genuine passion for his work. His fondest memories are not just of the adrenaline-filled emergency responses, but of the camaraderie he built and experiences he shared with his fellow firefighters, whom he now refers to as his "family."

"I'm proud to say I was a big part of growing that pension base," Paul states, emphasizing the importance of securing a stable future for his colleagues. His dedication aligns with the Hoosier Lottery's commitment to supporting those who serve their communities across Indiana, including the firefighter pensions to which the Hoosier Lottery has contributed for over 35 years.
"It's the greatest career," Paul says when asked to share his advice for aspiring future firefighters. "Probably one of the most rewarding things you can do, not only for your community but for yourself." Paul's story serves as a powerful reminder of the impact a single person can make when their work sparks a passion to leave an even larger and lasting impact.
