A simple errand led to a $50,000 Powerball® win for one Tippecanoe County man. 

While at Meijer to pick up a few items, he purchased Powerball tickets. He likes to play the popular Draw game each week for a little fun and excitement. 

The day after the drawing, he returned to Meijer and asked a clerk to scan his ticket to see whether it was a winner. After scanning it, the clerk said, “You won, but it’s more than we can pay.”

His interest piqued and his excitement growing, the man went home, where his wife told him about a news story she had just seen about a Powerball ticket that was sold at Meijer and was worth $50,000.

They looked at each other, both shaking their heads. It couldn’t be. His ticket couldn’t be the $50,000 winner.

But when they looked up the winning numbers and the prize amounts, they were stunned to see he did indeed have the winning ticket!

They plan to put the prize money in savings.
