A grandmother of 11 from Indianapolis was about to leave for a basketball game when she checked her Powerball® ticket and scored a win of her own. Pamela James could not believe she won on her Quick Pick Powerball ticket when she scanned it on the Hoosier Lottery’s app and the displayed message said she would need to contact the Hoosier Lottery to claim her prize.

Pamela immediately checked with her husband, and they still couldn’t believe they won, so they headed to their local retailer. Pamela asked the cashier and customers if she won, and they all told her to head to the Hoosier Lottery headquarters right away! Still in disbelief, Pamela couldn’t accept that it was really she who won.

When she saw a social media post from the Hoosier Lottery about a $50,000 Powerball win at the Meijer where Pamela had purchased her ticket, she realized it was about her and went straight to the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office in Indianapolis to claim her prize.

Pamela plans to spend her winnings on a holiday trip to French Lick to experience the Polar Express Train Ride and will put the rest in savings.
