A Fort Wayne woman was shocked when she discovered she won $100,000 playing Powerball®.

The retiree is an avid thrifter and was making the rounds at her local thrift stores when she stopped at a Phil’s One Stop to get gas and her weekly Powerball tickets. 

The day after the drawing, she scanned her tickets on the Hoosier Lottery app and saw a message stating her prize was too large to cash at a retailer and she should contact the Hoosier Lottery. From previous experience, she knew that meant she won a large prize, so she asked her son to help her check her numbers. 

“Oh, wow!” her son exclaimed. “You got four numbers and the Powerball!”

Neither was sure how much that meant she won, so they looked online and were shocked to see she won $100,000 due to the multiplier she always adds to her tickets. 

“I think my son almost had a heart attack,” she laughed as she recalled the moment.

She plans to put her prize money in savings and continue thrifting.
