John Montgomery Jr.’s name may look familiar to jazz fans in Indianapolis. That’s because he’s the son of John “Wes” Montgomery, a well-known jazz musician and guitarist from Indianapolis who rose to prominence in the early 1960s. John Jr. proudly shares the memory of his father and his musical legacy.
Although he didn’t follow in his father's footsteps as a musician, he has had a successful career in the automotive manufacturing industry. Now retired, John Jr. works part-time as a home health aide. And for entertainment, he plays Hoosier Lottery Draw games.
The surging Powerball® jackpot inspired John Jr. to purchase a Quick Pick ticket while getting gas at the Museum Shell in Indianapolis. After the drawing, he scanned his ticket at a Hoosier Lottery retailer and realized that he’d won a significant prize.
Not knowing how much he won, John Jr. visited the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office in Indianapolis to claim his prize. He was very happy to find out he won $100,000.
“I can breathe easier knowing this money will be in my savings account,” he said about the win padding his savings.
