Megan Vangilder and her boyfriend enjoy playing Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs together. Megan selected which tickets she wanted to play from the handful of tickets they had purchased, and they sat down to scratch them.

Giddy with excitement after seeing $500 revealed, Megan got her boyfriend’s attention that she had won something. As a more seasoned player, he quickly realized she had won the $10 Stacks of Cash $10,000 top prize!

The couple shared the news with a few family members, but her boyfriend is known to be a jokester, so they were hard to convince it was real. Finally, after seeing a picture of the winning ticket, their family believed the good news.

Megan plans to replace their sliding back door with the prize money—it had accidentally been broken by a rock when mowing. “Perfect timing before this winter,” Megan said.
