Elkhart resident Barbara Havens and her husband had decided to get out of competing in barbeque competitions, which meant they no longer needed their camper or truck to pull it. To cut back on expenses, they traded their truck and car in for a Ford Bronco. On her way out of the dealership, Barbara jokingly told the sales associate that if she won the lottery, she’d come back to buy the Mustang on the showroom floor. 

Excited to show their granddaughter their new Bronco, the couple headed straight from the car dealership to the ice cream store she worked at to show her. On the way, Barbara bought a few CA$H 5 tickets. 

In the morning, Barbara scanned her tickets on the Hoosier Lottery app and received a message that she’d have to call the Hoosier Lottery to claim her prize. Not sure what that meant, she went about her morning and made breakfast. Later, she called the lottery office in Mishawaka, where the associate on the phone informed her that she had won the $304,043 jackpot! 

Instead of buying the Mustang, Barbara and her husband plan to invest the prize money for their children and grandchildren.
