Winchester resident Sherri L. enjoys playing Powerball®. Her days are pretty busy working at IU Health, and it gives her something fun to look forward to each week.

When Sherri’s dad was in the hospital, she and her brother visited him. Afterwards, they stopped at a Speedway to get gas, and her brother purchased a couple Powerball tickets—one for him and one for Sherri.

The day after the drawing, Sherri scanned her ticket using the Hoosier Lottery’s app and saw a message stating she would need to contact the Hoosier Lottery to claim her prize. Seeing that she matched four of the six numbers to win $100, Sherri was pretty excited. However, as she looked at the ticket again, she realized she actually matched five numbers and won $50,000!

She was stunned.

“I checked it four times, just to be sure,” she recalled.

Sherri plans to use her winnings to pay a couple of bills and take a vacation. “But first,” she said, “I think I need to buy my brother a nice dinner!”
