A simple Mother’s Day gift turned into an unforgettable surprise for a woman from Lawrence who won on a $50 Luxe Millions Scratch-off. 

The winner said her husband included the ticket in a Mother’s Day gift basket as a fun addition of play. Later, while spending time together, she started scratching the ticket and quickly began to realize that she had just won $20,000! 

Excited while claiming her prize, she explained that she does not usually play Scratch-offs but will sometimes get them for holidays, birthdays or special occasions. Because of that, winning felt especially unbelievable. 

After confirming her win, she called her parents so she could share the exciting news. She said everyone was shocked and happy for her. She is excited to spend some of her winnings on some much-needed home improvements, including replacing the water heater. What began as a thoughtful Mother’s Day surprise quickly became a celebration the family will remember for years to come.
