Tips on How to Spot and Avoid a Scam
Never give out personal information, like a social security number or bank account number, to anyone telling you that you have won a prize other than Lottery personnel at an official Prize Payment Center.
Say “No” to Fees
Never pay anyone a fee to obtain your winnings. This includes "processing" and "handling" costs.
Hold on to that Ticket!
Secure your ticket. It's essential to claiming any winnings.
Be sure you're following official Hoosier Lottery social media accounts and be aware of requests for your personal information by unauthorized accounts using the Hoosier Lottery brand and/or name.
While on Facebook and Instagram, look for the blue circles with check marks as they signify that you are connected to our official accounts (for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
We will never ask you for your social security number or bank account information through social media or email. Complaints regarding scams can be filed at the Indiana Attorney General's Office.
