Now that Greenfield resident Vickie Mattox is retired, she loves being able to attend all of her grandsons’ basketball games and 4-H events. She also enjoys playing Mega Millions® each week and typically purchases her tickets while grocery shopping at Kroger.

During one grocery run, Vickie was in line to buy her weekly Mega Millions tickets when she noticed the Hoosier Lottery’s Powerball® jackpot sign.

“When I saw that the jackpot was worth more than $300 million, I decided to buy two tickets for that night’s drawing,” she recalled. 

The next evening, Vickie saw a news story about a Powerball ticket worth $50,000 that was sold at the Greenfield Kroger she frequents. Her daughter soon called to say she had seen a similar story. Vickie pulled out her tickets and looked up the winning numbers.

“I think I just won $50,000!” Vickie told her daughter. 

“What?!” her daughter exclaimed. 

Her husband and son were just as shocked when Vickie told them about her win.

She plans put her winnings in savings.
