Mark Stevens typically plays Draw games when a jackpot reaches a very large amount. During the recent large Powerball® jackpot run, Mark’s sister and mother gave him some Powerball tickets. When he didn’t win anything on those tickets, he decided to buy a few on his own.
The day after the drawing, the Boonville resident stopped at one of the two gas stations he frequents to have his tickets scanned. He was shocked when the clerk told him he won but would have to claim his prize at the Hoosier Lottery office. Mark called the Evansville Hoosier Lottery office, and they confirmed that he won $50,000.
When Mark told his wife he had just won $50,000 on a Powerball ticket, she was convinced he was joking. A couple times in the past, Mark had given his wife a joke lottery ticket and tricked her into believing she had won a million dollars. After several minutes, Mark finally convinced her that this time it truly was for real.
Now that he is retired from Toyota, Mark spends a lot of time deer hunting and plans to use some of his winnings on hunting supplies and a vacation.
