Bedford resident celebrates $50,000 Powerball® win
Whenever Thomas Baurle, Bedford, has a little extra money in his pocket, he likes to drive to his local Circle K in Brownstown and buy Hoosier Lotto® quick picks. After working overtime, Thomas wanted to make sure he had his Hoosier Lotto tickets in time for the January 30 draw.
After he paid for his tickets and walked to his car, Thomas realized he made a small mistake—he purchased Powerball quick picks on accident, “I was a little upset at first, but I got over it pretty fast,” Thomas said. The following day, Thomas went back to the Circle K to see if he had won anything.
Upon arrival, he scanned the ticket at the kiosk and was greeted with the message: “Claim Prize at Hoosier Lottery.”
“That’s odd,” Thomas thought to himself. He then asked the cashier if she could scan the ticket to see how much he had won. The cashier scanned the ticket using the Hoosier Lottery app and let out an excited gasp when she saw the congratulatory message on the screen. “You just won $50,000!” the cashier exclaimed.
Without even realizing it, Thomas had been carrying around a Powerball tickets that matched all but one number from the previous night’s drawing.
“I got really excited and could not wait to tell my daughters and their families.” Thomas said. Everyone that Thomas has told has been elated for him. Thomas is looking forward to using much of the money to help his daughters and using the rest on a new pickup truck.
