Virgil Ross is retired and lives in the small town of Spencer, just mere minutes from McCormick’s Creek State Park. For entertainment, he likes to play Powerball® and Mega Millions®.
While out running errands one day, Virgil purchased a couple Powerball tickets. After the drawing that night, he opened the Hoosier Lottery app and scanned his tickets to see whether he won. When the app screen showed he won $1 million, Virgil was stunned. He scanned the ticket a few more times, his excitement growing each time the screen confirmed his win.
“I was so excited and nervous, I slept with the ticket under my pillow that night,” laughed Virgil.
The next day at a family gathering, a relative asked Virgil how he had been doing on Powerball, and Virgil replied, “How many zeroes are in a million?” His family members were all very happy for Virgil when they learned of his win.
Virgil plans to use some of his winnings to buy a good used truck and make a few home repairs.
