Powerball® Winner Still Can't Believe Her Eyes
Around 6:30 a.m., through bleary eyes, Rita Williams checked the Hoosier Lottery app to see if her Powerball® ticket was a winner from the drawing the night before. Rita thought she saw $1,000,000, and she excitedly woke her husband and told him that they were millionaires! She also sent a screenshot of the prize amount to her daughter-in-law to announce that she had won. Her daughter-in-law texted back encouraging her to look more closely. Rita had misread the numbers winning $100,000 not $1,000,000. Still, she was super pleased to have won the $100,000 prize.
Rita plays numbers from her first Quick Pick Powerball® purchase, which has been many years ago. This is the largest prize those numbers have won for her. Rita has only told close family about her win, but knowing that Mitchell, Ind. is a small community, she’s sure word has gotten around.
Rita and her husband plan to pay off their house and car with the prize money.
