A large group of General Motors coworkers won $250,000 in a Powerball drawing in early January. The group was about 20 people strong and has been playing together since 2012.
Mary Jones of Muncie organizes the lottery pool among the coworkers. Her peers called her “extremely organized” and “the perfect person for the job.” Mary replayed numbers from a previous Powerball ticket.
The group members’ plans for their portion of the prize money varied. One person plans to buy a new furnace, and another person plans to pay the last semester of their daughter’s college tuition.
The winning ticket was purchased at Broadway C-Store, 1701 N. Broadway Ave. in Muncie.
