Janiel Caraballo’s grandmother lives in Florida, but came to Indiana to visit her grandson before his first semester of college. While visiting, Janiel’s grandmother bought a Daily 4 Draw game ticket in hopes of winning money to give to her grandson for college. She selected numbers based on her former address in Puerto Rico, which happened to be the winning numbers!
The next morning, Janiel’s parents and grandmother sat him down to tell him the news. “I knew I didn’t do anything wrong, but I was worried what they were going to tell me,” Janiel said. “It took a little while to react, and then I cried,” said Janiel after learning his grandmother was giving him the $25,000 winning ticket.
Janiel plans to use the prize money to buy books and pay for tuition as he begins his college career in the fall at Indiana Wesleyan.
