Donald Elrod was confused on why the winner of the $50,000 Powerball® ticket sold in his hometown of Terre Haute hadn’t claimed their prize more than a week after the drawing. He even saw on the local news that the winning ticket had been purchased at the Kroger where he shops. Then it struck Donald to check his Powerball® tickets that were laying on his dresser, purchased a week prior.
“I thought I might win enough to put gas in my truck,” Donald said. When he scanned his tickets using the Hoosier Lottery app, Donald soon realized he had won more than enough for a tank of gas. “I probably scanned that ticket 10 times before I believed it!” He sent his brother a screen shot of the win. His brother assumed it was a prank since they’d been discussing the mysterious winning ticket. Finally, his brother came over and scanned the ticket with his phone to confirm for himself that Donald was the winner they’d be wondering about!
Donald plans to purchase a new tool for his workshop so he can expand his woodworking and metal working hobbies. He also intends to share the prize money with his family.
