A Brownsburg woman claims $1.9 million Hoosier Lottery Fast Play jackpot. This is the largest Fast Play jackpot in Hoosier Lottery history
When Gwendolyn Maxey-Crowdus of Brownsburg began playing Hoosier Lottery Fast Play games a few weeks ago, she never dreamed she would become a millionaire.
She typically plays Powerball® and while at a GetGo in Brownsburg to purchase a few tickets, she noticed that the jackpot for the $20 Blazing Hot 7s Fast Play game was almost $2 million. Intrigued, she purchased one ticket.
Once she was home, she scanned the ticket on the Hoosier Lottery app and saw a message stating that her prize was too large to cash at a retailer.
“I figured I won $2,000 or a little more,” Gwendolyn recalled.
She examined her ticket to see which of the winning numbers she had matched. She found it and saw the word “JACKPOT” underneath it. She put on her glasses and looked again.
“Actually, I checked it five times,” she laughed. “I just couldn’t believe it.”
Gwendolyn had won the $1,995,210 jackpot—the largest Fast Play jackpot in Hoosier Lottery history!
She snapped a picture of her ticket and texted it to her sister. When her sister replied, “What is that?”, Gwendolyn told her, “I think I just won a million dollars.”
After a career as a teacher and then counselor for Indianapolis Public Schools, Gwendolyn is enjoying retirement. She plans to use some of her winnings to pay off her debt and purchase a one-story house. She would also like to give some to her church and her aunt, who spent years taking care of Gwendolyn’s grandmother.
The $1,995,210 jackpot winning ticket was purchased at GetGo #7535 located at 1051 N. Green St. in Brownsburg. Players can check their tickets with the free Hoosier Lottery Mobile App.
