When Kevin Apple is not at his job as an automotive service advisor, he’s traveling to sunny destinations or attending St. Louis Cardinals baseball games. He also likes to purchase Draw game tickets and selects the game based on the current jackpot amount.

The largest prize Kevin had won was $4 until the day he walked into his local Speedway to scan a stack of tickets he had purchased. The last one he scanned was a Powerball® ticket, and the screen read, “Please contact the lottery office.” Kevin took a moment to let the scanner start over before checking his ticket again. After receiving the same message, he realized that he won $50,000.

Kevin went on to work that morning with the excitement of his winning ticket fresh on his mind. He shared the good news with his coworkers and brought in donuts the next day to celebrate.

Kevin plans on using the prize money for home improvements and to attend several Cardinals games with his brother this season.
