Talishia Lumpkin of Indianapolis sometimes buys a few Scratch-offs when she stops to get gas. One day after getting off work at the Hyatt, she stopped at Speedway and bought a $5 Wild Cherry Crossword 5X Scratch-off.

Once she was home, she started scratching her ticket and saw that she won the top prize of $100,000. Talishia turned to her sister and said, “Oh my gosh! I think I just won $100,000, but I scratched the ticket too hard!”

Talishia had accidentally scratched off part of the barcode and was afraid the ticket would no longer be valid. Not knowing what to do, she hung onto the ticket. Finally, her fiancé suggested she call the Hoosier Lottery office and ask about the ticket. When Hoosier Lottery staff confirmed that the ticket was valid, Talishia was overjoyed.

She plans to help her mom with some of her winnings and to use some for a down payment on a house.
