New Harmony resident Ricky Bowman regularly plays the Hoosier Lotto and occasionally plays Scratch-offs. One day after work, Ricky and his wife stopped at the gas station to get something to drink and decided to buy a $3 Wild Cherry Crossword Tripler Scratch-off.

While still in the store, Ricky scratched the ticket and couldn’t believe it when it revealed he won the top prize of $50,000. “I wasn’t sure it was real,” he said. When he showed his wife the ticket, she couldn’t believe it either. “We must have looked at the ticket 100 times,” his wife laughed.

Still feeling like it couldn’t be real, the couple then scanned the ticket using the Hoosier Lottery app several times and finally asked the store clerk to scan it. When the clerk said, “Yes, it’s real,” Ricky and his wife were thrilled.

They plan to use the prize money to pay off their home mortgage.
