Charles Voyles comes from a family of truck drivers and is carrying on that family tradition by driving overnight freight for FedEx. For fun, he regularly plays Powerball® and, when a jackpot starts to grow really large, Charles buys a few more tickets than usual.
Knowing the jackpot had recently surpassed $1 billion, Charles stopped at the Drone’s Convenience Store near his home and purchased some extra tickets. Later that day, he realized the big jackpot had been won on the previous drawing. However, buying those extra tickets resulted in Charles winning $50,000!
The day after the drawing, Charles was doing some work on his computer and looked up the winning numbers. He saw that one of the “extra” tickets he purchased matched four numbers and the Powerball.
“I was pretty excited to see that because I thought I won $5,000,” said Charles.
A few minutes later, his girlfriend called and Charles told her about his winning ticket and that he wasn’t sure how much he won. He told her how many numbers he matched and then said, “Do you know how much I won?”
Charles was surprised when his Google Assistant replied that he won $50,000. “I hadn’t realized it was even turned on,” laughed Charles. “But it saved me some Internet searching!”
Charles plans to use his winnings to put new siding on his house and will put the rest in savings.
