Scott Curum is a machinist who lives in Lafayette and enjoys playing Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs.

Recently, Scott started playing $5 Plus the Money and purchased a few at his local Friendly Market. He was home one evening watching ESPN when he pulled out his tickets to see whether he won. He scanned them using the Hoosier Lottery app, and when the app displayed a message stating “See Retailer,” Scott was surprised.

He wanted to be sure the ticket really was a winner, so he went back to the Friendly Market and asked the clerk to scan it. When the win was confirmed and it started to sink in that Scott won the top prize of $100,000, he was stunned.

While still in the store Scott called his wife to share the good news. She happened to be sleeping at that moment, but after Scott called her several times, she finally woke up and answered her phone. Despite having been sound asleep, his wife nearly jumped out of bed when she heard the news!

Scott is planning on using some of the prize money to pay bills and make a couple house repairs. He will put the rest in savings.
