Anderson resident Terry Minkey is recently retired and likes to spend his time playing golf and Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs. While shopping for golf clubs one day, he stopped at Speedway and bought a $20 Triple Red 777 Scratch-off.

Back in his truck, Terry scratched the ticket and was shocked to see he won the top prize of $500,000.

“I had to put my glasses on and look at it three or four times to be sure,” said Terry.

For confirmation, he went back into the store and asked the clerk to scan the ticket. When the clerk told him he won and would need to claim his prize at the Hoosier Lottery Prize Payment office, Terry said, “I started shaking and flipping out.”

He plans to use his winnings to help some family members.
