Evansville resident Brenda Guetling began playing Hoosier Lottery Scratch-offs a few months ago for fun. She was running errands one day and decided to buy a $3 Wild Cherry Crossword Tripler because she likes crossword-type games. When she scratched the ticket, Brenda was shocked to see she won the game’s top prize of $50,000.

“I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “I just kept thinking I must not be looking at it right.”

Brenda scanned the ticket using the Hoosier Lottery app, and it confirmed her win. Still not quite convinced she won, Brenda asked her manager at the physical therapy and rehab facility where she works to scan it for her. When her manager exclaimed, “Wow! You did win!” the reality of Brenda’s win finally sunk in.

Brenda plans to use some of her winnings to pay bills and some of it as a down payment for a house.
