Since early 2011, the Hoosier Lottery headquarters has called The Buick Building home. The building is certified Gold by the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Building Rating System. The building was designed and constructed to reduce human impact on the environment.
In addition to encouraging recycling, we continued promoting green initiatives internally and externally. Recycling boxes placed at each employee's work station promote individual recycling. We also celebrated Earth Day during our monthly all-employee meeting. We continue to monitor the use of point of sale materials in an effort to reduce our waste and we promote our mobile digital playslip (myPlayslip) as an alternative to paper playslips. During this report period, an average of 1,532 wagers were made using the myPlayslip per week. This is a 16% increase over the previous fiscal year.
The Hoosier Lottery launched the myPlayslip digital playslip in November 2015. This enables players to create a playslip on their smartphone and show the code to the sales associate. This not only allows players to save their wagers for future use, but it also reduces reliance on paper playslips, thus reducing waste. Approximately 218 wagers per day are being created from myPlayslip.
