Powerball® Players in Merrillville and Portage win $1 million and $200,000
Ruby Phillips of Merrillville is one of two Northwest Indiana Hoosier Lottery players to win big money playing Powerball recently. Phillips won $1 million in the May 4 drawing. She claimed her prize accompanied by her husband of 45 years, Burtis Phillips. Phillips purchased her lucky ticket at Ulta Foods at 8401 Indianapolis Blvd. in Highland, Ind. Phillips matched the first five numbers but not the Powerball number. She elected to purchase the Power Play® for an extra dollar which increased her winnings from $200,000 to $1 million. “We never play without the Power Play,” said Burtis Phillips. “You are only going to win but once in your life!” Click here to read more about Ruby.
