Griffin woman thrilled about dramatic shift in luck
Leona Varner’s luck has turned around. Just a few months after experiencing the devastating and total loss of her home and all her belongings in a fire, the Griffin-resident and great-grandmother has won $150,000 from the Hoosier Lottery. “I can’t believe this. It seems like something you imagine but it isn’t something you really expect to happen,” said Varner. “I keep thinking I’m going to wake up and it’s not going to be real.” Varner, a widow, said she had been staying with her daughter since the fire, but is anxious to be independent again. The Octogenarian said she plans to look into putting a small pre-fabricated log-cabin on the lot where her old house previously stood. Read more of Leona's story here.
