It was high fives all around when Kimberly Taylor and her husband, Jack, realized they won $50,000 on a Powerball ticket.
The Indianapolis couple plays Powerball and Hoosier Lotto every Wednesday and Saturday. Kimberly had the winning ticket in her purse for two full weeks before realizing it was a winner.
Kimberly and Jack purchased the ticket at Circle K, 6302 W. Washington St in Indianapolis. They went into a retailer to check their tickets for winners. They received a slip informing them they would need to claim their prize at Hoosier Lottery headquarters in Indianapolis. Upon arriving home, they checked their numbers. They matched four of five numbers and the Powerball for a $50,000 prize.
“She was smiling so big I thought I was going to have to buy a power tool to get the smile off her face,” Jack joked of his wife.
The win comes on the heels of bad health-related news for the couple. They plan to use the winnings to replenish savings they used to start up their business.
“We are happy and content people,” Kimberly said. “This win just helps give us a sense of security.”
