Indy man ‘in shock’ after winning $550,500
Hoosier Lottery CA$H 5 jackpot
INDIANAPOLIS (May 11, 2018) — When James Keaton walked into Hoosier Lottery headquarters with his CA$H 5 ticket, he had no idea it was worth more than half a million dollars.
It really was. James matched all five numbers in the May 2, 2018 CA$H 5 drawing. The final jackpot was $551,198 before taxes.
Earlier that day, James was on his way to work when he stopped at a gas station to check his Hoosier Lottery tickets. The employee scanned his tickets and said one of them, a CA$H 5 ticket, had to be taken to Hoosier Lottery offices.
When the Hoosier Lottery claims representative asked James if he knew how much he won, he said he didn’t. So, she showed him the screen after scanning his ticket.
“Is that really $550,500?” he asked.
“I’m still in shock,” James said while claiming his prize.
James called his wife while at Hoosier Lottery headquarters. She didn’t believe him, so he planned to send her a photo of himself with the ceremonial big check to prove the win to her.
James intends to use the prize money to travel to Texas to be with his wife, who is grieving a death in the family. He also plans to remodel his house.
The winning ticket came from Payless Liquors, 5230 Rockville Road, Indianapolis.
CA$H 5 Jackpot Odds are 1 in 1,221,759. CA$H 5 Overall Odds are 1 in 11.
