Hoosiers win cash on life-changing trip to Hollywood

INDIANAPOLIS (April 20, 2017) The click-click-click from the wheel could be heard throughout Stage 11 in Sony Pictures Studios, as Oolitic, Indiana’s Leah Gross experienced a dream come true while spinning the wheel at Wheel of Fortune ®.

Leah Gross - WoF 250pxLeah was one of four Hoosiers who won a trip to Los Angeles through a Hoosier Lottery Wheel of Fortune Scratch-off 2nd Chance Promotion. Trina Glenn, of Indianapolis, made the trip as well. Charles Tindall and Daniel Gibson also won the trip, but sent proxies in their place. Their proxies enjoyed the trip, and both Tindall and Gibson will collect the prize money. Overall, Hoosiers won $30,258 on the trip.

For Indianapolis-native Trina Glenn, the trip was hard to express in words. She brought her adult daughter along for the fun.

“This has truly been a life-changing journey,” Trina said. “Everything was so awesome!”

Trina won $4,758 on the trip, and Leah won $18,100.

Of the 84 2nd Chance winners from around the country, 12 were randomly chosen to play in non-broadcast tapings of Wheel of Fortune. The tapings were lottery players-only versions of the show.

Leah was chosen to play on the non-broadcast show. When Jim Thornton, the voice of Wheel of Fortune, announced she would play, Leah immediately cried.

“That was a moment I will never forget, and I was completely overwhelmed,” Leah said.

When the day of the taping came, Leah went through the same routine a typical contestant of Wheel of Fortune would experience. The studio did her makeup, walked her through how to spin the wheel and she met Pat Sajak and Vanna White. During the taping, she successfully solved six puzzles and made it to the bonus round. During the non-broadcast taping, she won $17,400.

All of the 2nd Chance Promotion winners on the trip participated in a Spin to Win event, during which they spun the wheel and won the prize amount shown on their wedge. Leah won an additional $700 during Spin to Win. Other Indiana winners won $850, $900 and $2,500 each from Spin to Win.

2nd Chance Promotion winners were also treated to tours of Hollywood and Sony Pictures Studios. Winners stayed in a hotel just blocks from Venice Beach.

Although the Wheel of Fortune tapings will not be broadcast, the 2nd Chance Promotion winners will receive a DVD of the show, along with professional photographs from the experience.

2nd Chance Promotion Odds are dependent upon the number of entries received.
