Barbershop owner wins $50,000 on Daily 4
1-1-1-1 drawing had more than $2 million in winners
INDIANAPOLIS (July 26, 2018) — Scott Williams is a barber, but he sees his role as more of a minister or a therapist.
“People come in with problems and leave smiling,” said Scott, who owns a barbershop in Fort Wayne
Last week, Scott was the one smiling. He was cutting someone’s hair when a customer called to tell him his Daily 4 numbers were drawn in the midday drawing by Hoosier Lottery on July 20, 2018.
“Everybody knows I play,” Scott said.
Scott’s numbers, 1-1-1-1, came up on Friday, and he was at Hoosier Lottery headquarters in Indianapolis Monday to claim his prize. He said he’s been playing those numbers for about a year. He used to play 1-4-0-1, the address of his barbershop.
Scott won $50,000 on Daily 4. He wasn’t the only one who won on that particular Daily 4 drawing.
There were 917 winning experiences from the Daily 4 midday draw on July 20, 2018, valued at more than $2 million in potential prizes. Of those, 799 tickets hit 1-1-1-1 on a straight bet. A $1 straight wager that matches all four numbers results in a $5,000 prize. Scott wagered $10.
The last time the Hoosier Lottery drew 1-1-1-1 on Daily 4 was the midday drawing on Feb. 14, 2016.
Scott plans to use his prize money for updates to his existing business and to start a new business. Although Scott has had other fulfilling jobs, he said he’s glad he took over the barbershop his family opened nearly 60 years ago.
“It’s the best thing I’ve ever done,” Scott said.
Daily 4 odds vary by player selection.
