New Albany resident Donna Cunningham loves to play Powerball® for fun. She typically stops to purchase tickets on her way to her part-time job and always plays her birthday and those of her son and late husband.
One night, not long after one of the drawings, Donna checked her numbers and was elated to see she matched several numbers. “Holy cow! I think I won!” she exclaimed. When she realized she won $50,000, Donna was thrilled.
She wanted to call her son to share her news, but it was 1:30 in the morning, so she decided to let him sleep. Donna, however, wasn’t able to go back to sleep and ended up staying awake all night. “I was too excited to sleep,” she said. Later in the morning, when she called her son, he was very happy for Donna.
Donna plans to put her winnings in savings for now.
