Grant Administrative Partner:

International Center for Responsible Gaming

The Student Research Grant program's objective is to build capacity and knowledge in the area of responsible gaming research and program development. Deadline: September 1, 2022.

Hoosier Lottery Research Priorities: 
  • Examining strategies to promote the responsible gaming principals of Positive Play harm minimization and treatment referral for lottery players
  • Identifying the positive or negative factors that influence behaviors and beliefs among lottery players who may be at risk for problem gambling
  • Determining innovative methods to reach and connect lottery players with educational resources or treatment providers
  • Understanding the role technology plays in the promotion of Positive Play attributes or treatment of problem gambling among lottery players
  • Examine the implementation of responsible gaming principles, especially those with the least amount of research specific to lotteries, specifically employee training, stakeholder engagement, and program evaluation
Accepted Project Types:

Any student research that has to do with responsible gaming or problem gambling. Extra consideration will be given to submissions from students who are attending schools in Indiana. Extra consideration will be given to proposals that show a clear connection to the State of Indiana and/or the Hoosier Lottery. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Including Indiana residents in sampling
  • Using Hoosier Lottery data, tools, or publications
  • Using statistics, data, or demographic studies specific to Indiana’s population
Funded Tasks:

Thesis studies at the master’s degree level or dissertations at the Ph.D. level. The applicant must have an approved dissertation or thesis proposal (at the time of award) and must be currently enrolled in a master’s degree, Ph.D. or equivalent research degree program, a formally combined MD/Ph.D. program, or other combined professional/clinical and research doctoral in any field.
